Loooong day today! It began at 4:20am with the loudest, scariest thunderstorm I've heard in a long time.
When the rain finally stopped, I set out on a "wander" that led me to the Ile-de-la-Cite, where I waited in line for an hour to see Sainte Chapelle. It was definitely worth it.
This is the lower chapel.
THIS is the upper chapel!
Wow! Next I went to the Conciergerie. Not much to see. This is a picture of the main hall, and then I saw some of the cells where they held Marie Antoinette before executing her.
Next I walked through the Marais district, and stopped at the Place des Vosges:
And saw where Victor Hugo lived:
And creeped on some little Parisian kids:
And walked back to St. John's! Got back around 6pm, got changed, and walked over to the Allens with Anne.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen are SO nice. And the apartment they're borrowing is tiny but beautiful. We went to a lovely brasserie (we should go there when you're here), where I ordered a delicious, though not particularly exotic, dinner. But Mrs. Allen let me try some of her smoked duck and foie gras, and I had some of a nutella crepe and LOTS of "glace a la vanille" for dessert. (Lucky I did so much walking earlier!)
